In discussing my approach to concert music over the least few years that I was focusing on it, I asked an important question.
Is there a difference between a book made up of random characters, and a book that has been encoded in a way to obscure all meaning?
I think there is. The encoded text can be decrypted and deciphered, and the original meaning and intent remains intact.
Yet, if the reader won’t do the work, there is no difference.
